Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments 1972

"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." 20 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.

The University System of Georgia is committed to providing a safe and discrimination-free working and learning environment. Title IX protects individuals in the educational and work setting from discrimination based on sex, including sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, or forms of sex discrimination. Employees and students involved in or attempting to participate in educational programs or activities that receive federal assistance are protected under Title IX. 

The Title IX grievance process, including investigations, hearings, sanctions, and appeals involving a student Respondent, shall follow the resolution process outlined in the following policy  Section 4.6.5, Standards for Institutional Student Conduct Investigation and Disciplinary Proceedings.

The Title IX grievance process adjudication involving an employee Respondent shall be addressed utilizing Board and institutional employment policies and procedures, including Human Resources Administrative Practice Manual, Prohibit Discrimination & Harassment.
