Gordon State College
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Gordon State College—along with its faculty, staff, students, and the local community—rallied together to provide immediate support for approximately 230 displaced students from two University System of Georgia (USG) institutions.
As Gordon State College leadership assessed damage to the Barnesville campus on the Friday when Hurricane Helene hit, relief efforts had already begun in other parts of the state. By Saturday, as communication lines reopened, requests for assistance reached GSC President Dr. Donald J. Green, the provost, the vice president for finance and administration, and the vice president for enrollment services and marketing.
Gordon State College Toastmasters Club celebrated its 10-year anniversary on April 8, 2024, with a special ceremony at the Highlander Room in the Student Center building.
At the end of August, Gordon State College Interim President Dr. Donald J. Green marked his first 100 days in office. In those three months and almost two weeks, President Green left no room for procrastination and made great progress toward his goal of realigning GSC’s trajectory with central Georgia’s economic future.
Gordon State College students along with students from Salahaddin University in Erbil, Iraq won best pitch and placed runner-up in the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge, an international business competition that took place mid-December of 2022.
Gordon State College recently hosted the grand opening of the Adults, Veterans and Non-Traditional Students Center, which will provide this student population with a comfortable and family-friendly space on campus to study, connect, and access on and off-campus resources.
Gordon State College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter, Pi Eta, on the Barnesville campus was named 2022 REACH Reward recipient.
Gordon State College students, faculty and administrators participated in the African-American Male Initiative virtual graduation on Friday, May 21 with the theme – Your VOICE Matters – and featured graduates from the spring and summer.
