Columbus State University’s new Cougar Success Academy will give soon-to-be college students an early taste of life as a university student. As its name implies, it’s about equipping students for academic success—but academy planners also emphasize the program is infused with some summertime fun.
“Our Cougar Success Academy is about getting ahead—and staying ahead,” said Dr. Melissa Young, director of CSU Advise, whose team of advisors guides students on matters from choosing their majors to selecting their courses.
Arriving to jokes of coming straight off the road gritty and smelly, the 20-member Miracle Rider contingent returned to a heroes’ welcome on Friday, June 16.
Columbus State University’s Center for Experiential Learning and Career Design hosted a Campus Outreach Program Manager from Google earlier this month in the Synovus Center on CSU’s Main Campus. Students and faculty were provided with many career development opportunities and hands-on learning experiences.
Federal support announced recently by U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff will help Columbus State University expand not just its STEM and robotics programs, but its K-12 partnerships in these disciplines with the Muscogee County School District.
Ossoff’s announcement credited bipartisan support in both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives to secure $635,000 to help expand existing partnerships between Columbus State, its Coca-Cola Space Science Center, and MCSD.
The Southwest Georgia LSAMP Alliance, part of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, recently celebrated three Columbus State University STEM scholars who will continue their education in graduate school.
