University System of Georgia Chancellor Stephen R. Portch, commenting on the appointment by Gov. Roy Barnes of Michael F. Vollmer as director of the Office of Education Accountability, said: “Mike is a superb choice. He knows every level of education from having run HOPE and the state’s Pre-K program, to his two interim president posts in the University System, and now as the senior vice chancellor for human and external resources with the Board of Regents.”

“In addition,” Portch stated, “Mike is a person of the highest personal and professional integrity, which is a key ingredient for the credibility of the Office of Education Accountability.”
