Marion Fedrick to lead Albany State University Transition Team

Atlanta — October 9, 2017

University System of Georgia Chancellor Steve Wrigley has named Marion Fedrick interim executive vice president of Albany State University to lead the institution’s transition, following the announcement of President Art Dunning’s plan to retire Jan. 31, 2018.

Fedrick currently serves as vice chancellor for human resources at the University System of Georgia (USG) overseeing administration of all systemwide human resources initiatives, employee benefits programs, and organizational and leadership development initiatives. She will assume her new role Oct. 16, 2017.

“Marion is a trusted, proven leader within the USG and has a distinguished career in human resources and organizational development,” said Wrigley. “On behalf of the Board of Regents, I thank Marion for leading this transition team and taking action necessary to ensure a smooth transition for the benefit of students and the Southwest region of Georgia.”

Fedrick will lead a transition team to review and take action steps necessary to position Albany State University for long-term success. The team will include representatives from Albany State and other USG institutions.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Marion over the last four years, and we are fortunate to be able to take advantage of her expertise in organizational development and management,” said Dunning. “Marion will begin discussions immediately with Albany State students, faculty, staff and key leaders in the Albany State campus community.”

Fedrick received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Georgia and is a certified Senior Human Resources Professional.
