CBO Flywheel
The USG's Chief Business Officer (CBO) Flywheel Accelerated Development Program aims to cultivate system-wide talent of individuals interested in learning more about the CBO role. The program focuses on enhancing leadership skills and technical abilities within a small cohort. Key learning objectives include understanding the strategic role of a CBO, developing decision-making capabilities, and appreciating the challenges in higher education. The program is designed to be hybrid, with a mix of in-person and online sessions, and emphasizes diversity and leadership support for its success.
Cohort 1 of the CBO Flywheel program launched in January 2010 with 10 cohort members. Cohorts are intentionally between 8-12 participants to ensure personalized attention and meaningful interactions, fostering a more effective and supportive learning environment.
Program Components:
- Leadership development sessions, to include personality assessments and 360 evaluations.
- Training days with Subject Matter Experts (SME) from different campus units (business office, facilities, human resources, and public safety).
- Conversations with SMEs from other units, including academic affairs, athletics, and foundations.
