Oct 2021 Release of Ellucian Banner Baseline Upgrades for Financial Aid

RELEASE DATE

PURPOSE

Release of the following Ellucian Banner Baseline 8.x and 9.x Upgrades for Financial Aid:

  • Financial Aid 8.41 - Release includes various defect resolutions and Award Year updates for Aid Year 22-23
    • Prerequisites
      • Financial Aid 8.40
      • General 8.13.1
      • Accounts Receivable 8.5.4, 8.5.4.1 and 8.5.4.2
      • Student 8.20.3
  • Financial Aid 9.3.27 - Release includes various defect resolutions along with updates to the Pages for Aid Year 22-23
    • Prerequisites
      • Admin Common 9.3.25
      • Financial Aid 8.41
      • General 8.13.1

Note: Banner Financial Aid 8.41 and Banner Financial Aid 9.3.27 are paired releases and must be installed together.

Components of this release impact HOPE Enhanced Disbursement (RPEDISB). Modifications to Financial Aid 8.40.1 must be reapplied following the installation of this baseline upgrade (8.41) to maintain functionality.

Modifications to Financial Aid 8.40.1 was released by ITS on July 16, 2021 and is located on files.usg.edu in the following directory:

/GeorgiaBEST/Banner/prod/finaid/8/8_40_1/HOPE

Please review the Banner Release linked above (Ellucian Login required) for detailed information, including release notes, resolved Ellucian change requests, and object lists, to ensure release functionality, critical processing functionality, as well as any local modifications functionality are tested thoroughly prior to installing into Production databases

NOTE: Baseline 9.x upgrades and patches are cumulative. ITS may elect to skip certain upgrades and/or patches in order to deliver the most current, cumulative version

Ellucian has tested and certified these releases with the following statement:

“Quality Targets – Each of our product releases undergoes a stringent quality assurance process prior to release. Should a particular capability not meet our quality targets, we may choose to defer that specific capability to a future release or not complete the development of that capability at all.”


BEST PRACTICE

Non hosted Institutions are strongly encouraged to apply this software to your test environment before applying it to production. Institutions should comprehensively test using local business processes to ensure that the functionality meets regulatory requirements.

The releases and accompanying Ellucian documentation are available through the Ellucian Solution Manager (ESM) 1.18, using the ESM GeorgiaBEST repository URL. Documentation can also be downloaded directly from the Ellucian Support Center Documentation Libraries.

SOURCE CODE LOCATION AND DOCUMENTATION: The source code for Banner 9 releases is located on the USG GitLab repository.

The USG GitLab repository is password protected and authenticates through single sign-on. This resource will only be accessible while connected to your campus network or VPN service. Each individual project under the USG_Banner_9 group will have the needed SSH or HTTPS link to download the source code.

Technical staff at your institution who currently have access to files.usg.edu will also have access to the USG GitLab using their single sign-on credentials.

MANAGED SERVICES TECHNICAL NOTE: To ensure the stability, security and regulatory compliance of your applications, it is critical that all software be kept current. No action is required for ITS Managed Services customers. Hosted Institutions have been contacted by ITS regarding the installation schedule for this release.
