Appendix 2 B
Requirements for Obtaining Project Authorization
All projects located on Board of Regents property, regardless of funding source and regardless of delegated authority, must be authorized by either the Vice Chancellor for Facilities or the Board of Regents. This does not include routine maintenance type projects. If the initial construction cost/stated cost limitation (SCL) of the project exceeds $1,000,000, the project must be approved by the Board of Regents. There are several ways to obtain authorization for a project:
- Projects included on approved BOR lists: Major, Minor, Payback and Major Repair and Renovation (MRR): These projects are considered authorized.
- Projects with initial construction cost of more than $1,000,000:
Project must be approved by the Board of Regents. President sends written request to Vice Chancellor for Facilities for authorization of project. See App. 2 E for submittal requirements to place project on Board agenda. The project may proceed upon written notice from Vice Chancellor for Facilities that the Board has approved the project. - Projects with initial construction cost of $1,000,000 or less, including projects within campus delegated authority:
President sends written request to Vice Chancellor for Facilities for authorization of project. See App. 2 E. The project may proceed after written approval from the Vice Chancellor for Facilities has been received.
Contact the BOR Program Manager for other documents that may be requested for the particular project type.
