Board of Regents Chairman Sachin Shailendra announced on Jan. 25, 2021, the appointment of the Regents Search Advisory Group to help conduct a national search for the 14th chancellor of the University System of Georgia (USG). As the search continues, the Board in May engaged a new firm to consider current applicants and recruit additional applicants.
USG is recognized nationally for its leadership and innovation in state higher education policy and administration, with concrete results in cost savings and student attainment that since 2011 includes a 29% increase in the number of students annually earning degrees. Made up of 26 public colleges and universities across Georgia, USG enrolls 341,000 students, employs over 48,000 staff and faculty and has a statewide economic impact of $18.5 billion.
